The project aimed to build a Gmail auto follow-up solution that works right out of Gmail/Google Workplace so that users can build & send a sequence of email messages to reignite the conversations with their prospects or clients.

A Quick Overview of the Feature Requirements

Our team utilized a right mix of technologies to build a Gmail add-on with the capability of creating a sequence of email messages for sales campaigns. Let’s have a quick overview of the requirements before jumping on the features in detail:-

A Full-fledged Dashboard for insights & customization

The users can use a web-based dashboard to track and analyze all the follow-up emails (bumps) they sent over time. Additionally, users can also export messages or include a tracking pixel within their original message, and bumps to allow tracking whenever a recipient opens the messages.

Apart from displaying all these insights, the dashboard was equipped with the following features to customize the bumps for doing automated email chasing for the users:

Default & Custom Bump Sequences

The users were allowed to manage the bump( follow-up) sequences. Apart from a default sequence that the user can use straightaway after logging into their account, we also provided an option to add more bump sequences or modify the existing ones for different audiences.

Ability to set the bump triggers

The extension also provided an option to set bump triggers to perform a specific action based on opens, clicks, API calls, or replies. The users can set these triggers for all the bumps irrespective of their order in the follow-up sequence.

Option to choose days & times for Bumps

The users were provided with the option to choose the specific days on which they wish to send the bumps( follow-up emails). Apart from it, they can also choose the specific time range during which the bumps should be sent to the receipts of initial emails.

Attachment Library for the Bumps

Our team offered an attachment library where the users can add multiple documents or other files in PDF, JPG, GIF, PNG, MP4, MOV, MPEG, MP3, and WAV format to send as attachments with each follow-up email. The users can include any attachments in bumps before shooting them to the audience.

Personalize Bumps with Variables

It was an exciting feature we provided for the users of this extension. They can personalize their bumps by setting up the table with all the email addresses, variables & personal details for each recipient of the Bumps. The following two things were needed to accomplish this:

  • Map the information with the recipient’s email address
  • Add the variable to the bump message
Multiple Subscription Plans

Monetization of the extension to get ROI was also a significant concern for our team. Therefore, we implemented multiple monthly and annual subscription packages with curated features to suit the needs of different users.

Easy Registration & Login Process
Ability to Integrate with 3rd-party Software

Our team provided an option to generate API keys to connect the product with third-party apps used by marketers/users. Apart from that, users can also assign an email address provided by their CRM to be added as BCC to every message or bump sent by the users.

Chrome extension to work with Gmail

A Chrome extension that enables the users to use our solution from right within Gmail was the essence of the whole project. Once the user installs this extension, a checkbox will be displayed on the compose toolbar every time the user composes a new email.

Use can check this box to assign the sequence of bumps (follow-ups) to the email he is about to send using his Gmail account. The extension also lets the users to sign in their accounts or leave feedback about their experience while using this extension.
