Project Goal

The project aims to migrate BagzDepot (a wholesale store for promotional tote bags) from Magento to BigCommerce for a client who realized that the features and customization offered by Adobe Commerce didn’t align with their business needs.

A Quick Overview of the Feature Requirements

Solution

After analyzing the project requirements, our team did a pre-migration planning to ensure an effortless transition of the whole process. Our Magento to BigCommerce migration experts provided the following solutions to align with the specific needs and usability requirements of the client:-

Custom BigCommerce Theme Development

The client wanted to retain the look and feel of the store after migrating to BigCommerce. To achieve this, our team developed a custom BigCommerce theme that replicates the existing look, feel, and functionalities of the existing Magento store and implemented it on his new BigCommerce store.

Migration of Complete Product Data

Once the basic setup of our BigCommerce store was complete, it was time to migrate the data from Magento. We started it by migrating the product data, including product names, SKUs, descriptions, images, variants, stock availability, & more.

Migration of Historical Order Data

Migrating the order data to BigCommerce was yet another challenge during this project. Our migration experts exported all the historical data related to orders, including date, status, order products, price, shipping price, & more.

Once the data was exported, we transferred it to a new store version built on top of BigCommerce.

Migration of the Customer Data

The next step was to export the customers’ data from Magento and upload it to the new BigCommerce store. Our team successfully updated the customers’ details like Names, Emails, Contact numbers, and order history from the previous store version to Bigcommerce.

Multiple Payment Gateway Integration

The Magento version of the client’s store only uses Stripe as a payment gateway. Our team integrated Apple Pay, Amazon Pay, Google Pay, and Venmo to offer more payment options to customers while mitigating the risk of outages and delivering the best possible experience on their payment journey.

Migration of CMS pages with SEO data

Maintaining the SEO rankings was among the key asks of the project. Our experts successfully migrated all the pages from the Magento CMS with the exact meta titles, created dates, URL structure & meta description, and 301 redirects to ensure that search ranking doesn’t take a hit after migration.

Setting up the Google tags & Facebook pixels

The client’s Magento store was using Google tags and Facebook pixels to improve tracking accuracy and enhance the security of the store’s tracking and marketing tags. We implemented it on the new Bigcommerce store to ensure it continues on the new version.

Final Words

These were a few key insights on one of our recent Magento to BigCommerce migration projects. We understand that scalability & growth needs often put store owners in situations where the current cms fail to comply. If you find yourself in the same situation, our experts can assist you in speedy migration to a new eCommerce platform with nothing left behind.
